Desperately trying to find THE OTHER ONE (from the 80's I think) where a break happens in a Jam... there's a moment of silence - you can literally feel the whole band looking at Phil. Then Somebody yells PHIL and he nails the big bass line and we are off and running!

ANybody know what I am talking about?

Maybe the Greek? Meriweather? Can't remember but it is an all time favorite and I MUST find it again.

As most of us do, I think, I believe the best The other One played had to have been in '72. Several from Europe (5/3 & 5/26 come to mind immediately), and then... THEN... there's the Autumn shows. Sept. 28 @ the Stanley Theatre, and what I consider to be THE BEST New Year's show EVER Winterland 12/31/72. The sheer POWER of this song during what is arguably THE BEST calendar year of their career cannot easily be quantified. Dare I say that I think that TOO was better than Dark Star in '72---BLASPHEMY!!! The versions from '68 & the one from 3/1/69 also garner some very well deserved attention as well, but, hands down I say '72 had the best TOO's.

You could say it three more times, but no, most of don't think that.

The is not so much a pause, but Phil is delaying the into, it keeps going on, the rest of the band looking at him (I was there) . Some in the crowd goes "COME ON PHILL !". Then Phi lets loose .
By the way, a pretty good show for 82 .

08-19-1989 Greek Theatre

however, outside of the 80s, the Cape Cod version 10-27-1979 has a big bass roll

Not sure if they yell PHIL but 10-27-79 fits the description.

Not sure that either of these are the exact one you are looking for, but both 9/17/82 in Portland, Maine and 11/29/80 in Gainesville, Fl have tense pauses that lead to big Phil runs to kick off TOO.
